My current practice as a clinician scientist involves a balance between clincial medicine and surgery and basic science and translational human research. My clincial practice covers a wide range of otologic and neurotologic and oncologic areas including chronic ear disease, cochlear implantation, lalateral skull base tumors, diseases of the facial nerve and vestibular systems as well as peri-auricular and auricular cutanoeus oncology.
My research uses animal models of noise-induced central auditory trauma to investigate electrophysiologic and molecular mechanisms related to neural correlates of tinnitus. With humans I am investigating similar properties of central auditory plasticity using non-invasive neuro-imaging techniques.
