M Lauren Lalakea, MD, FACS is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery, Stanford University. She also serves as Physician Champion for Climate Action within her safety-net hospital system, Santa Clara Valley Healthcare in San Jose, California, and is an inaugural member of the AAOHNS Environmental Sustainability Task Force. Dr. Lalakea has completed a Diploma in Climate Medicine from the University of Colorado Climate Medicine Program, and has given numerous presentations on climate medicine and sustainability within OHNS as well as other medical specialties. She co-authored the supplemental Otolaryngology Core Curriculum module on Climate Change, Human Health and Environmental Sustainability, and served as a faculty member for the March 2026 AAOHNS FLEX curriculum: Towards a Sustainable Future.
