Dr. Abie Mendelsohn, MD, FACS is a fellowship-trained laryngologist and nationally recognized surgeon specializing in advanced voice, airway, and gender-affirming laryngeal surgery. After 13 years on the faculty at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, where he served as Associate Professor and Director of Head and Neck Robotic Surgery, Dr. Mendelsohn has focused his clinical, academic, and surgical innovation efforts on expanding the field of gender-affirming voice and neck surgery.

He is regarded as one of the leading voices in gender-affirming laryngology, with specialized expertise in vocal feminization surgery, vocal masculinization surgery, and scarless endoscopic chondrolaryngoplasty. His work emphasizes modern, minimally invasive techniques designed not only to align external appearance and vocal communication with gender identity, but also to preserve the delicate functions of voice, swallowing, airway protection, and professional communication.

Dr. Mendelsohn has helped advance data-driven surgical approaches including Thyroid cartilage augmentation and the Endoscopic scarless tracheal shave surgery, offering gender diverse patients access to highly specialized procedures performed by very few surgeons in the United States. Through his high-volume surgical experience, peer-reviewed academic contributions, and national educational leadership, Dr. Mendelsohn continues to shape the evolving standards of care for gender-affirming voice and laryngeal surgery.
