Sherard A. Tatum, MD, FACS, FAAP is Distinguished Professor of Otolaryngology and Pediatrics at the Upstate Medical University, State University of New York. He is medical director of the Cleft and Craniofacial Center and founder of the Division of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He is also co-director of the Craniomaxillofacial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship. He trained in Otolaryngology at the Eastern Virginia Medical School. He did two fellowships, one in Craniomaxillofacial Surgery in Hamburg, Germany, the other in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of California, Davis in Sacramento, California. He is primarily focused on reconstruction, particularly of cleft and craniofacial disorders. He has served or is serving on the boards of JAMA Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Current Opinion in Otolaryngology, Facial Plastic Surgery Clinics, the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He is past president of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He has traveled extensively on overseas surgical missions, recently, Ukraine. He has given over 300 presentations, many international, and coauthored over 200 publications. Dr. Tatum has received numerous awards for service and clinical excellence.
