Akshay Tangutur is a M.D. candidate at the Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine at Florida Atlantic University. Prior to medical school, he spent several years managing clinical trials focused on hypoglossal nerve stimulation and sleep surgery outcomes under the mentorship of Raj C. Dedhia, MD, MSCR at the University of Pennsylvania's Department of Otorhinolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery. Akshay's current research interests explore upper airway physiology, drug-induced sleep endoscopy (DISE), and cardiovascular outcomes in Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery.
Akshay is currently a fourth-year medical student applying for the Match this season to pursue a career in Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery. Outside of his academic and national leadership roles, he is an avid PADI-certified Advanced Open Water diver working towards a Rescue Diver certification.
