Dr. Darius Kohan is a graduate of New York University School of Medicine and was board certified as an otolaryngologist in 1990 following completion of his residency training at the same institution. He acquired specialized advanced training in Otology and Neurotology (disease of the ear and surgical/medical management) during his fellowship at New York University Medical Center.
Currently, Dr. Kohan is Associate Clinical Professor of Otolaryngology at New York University School of Medicine, Director of Otology/Neurotology at Lenox Hill Hospital/Manhattan Eye, Ear, and Throat Hospital (MEETH), Governor of the NY Otologic Society, and voluntary attending surgeon at New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. Dr. Kohan is involved in educating medical students and residents at these institutions. In addition, he is involved in several research projects in Otology/Neurotology.
Dr. Kohan has authored several books, numerous articles, and contributes as editor to several specialty periodicals. He has given several courses and lectured extensively on his field of expertise – Otology/Neurotology. He was elected to the medical board at Mt.Sinai- Beth Israel Medical Center in 1994. Dr. Kohan participated in several national committees of the American Academy of Otolaryngology including SiPac Educational Committee, Hearing Subcommittee, and Implantable Device Committee, and Equilibrium Committee. He is a member of the Academy task force, the Triologic Society and ANS.
Dr. Kohan is involved in several charitable organizations. He is one of the founding members of the Little Baby Face Foundation. Dr. Kohan volunteers his time to provide corrective surgery and medical care to children and their families who are in financial need worldwide. Dr. Darius Kohan was acknowledged for over 20 years by both NY Magazine Top Doctors- NYC, and Casle Connolly - NYC, as well as by the NY Times -SuperDoctors honors and listed at DoctorsDig.com.
