Resident
Jackson Mem Hosp/Jackson Health System Program
Diane Jung is a PGY-2 resident physician in the Department of Otolaryngology at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital. She is passionate about translational research and clinical care, with a strong foundation in basic science and otolaryngologic studies. During her research fellowship in the Neuro-Otology Department at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, she investigated vestibular aqueduct pathology and historical surgical approaches in Menière Disease, developing 3D reconstructions of endolymphatic duct valve pathology. At UCSF, she contributed to single-cell sequencing projects analyzing differential gene expression in brain tissues, including work on autism spectrum disorders and brain maturation, resulting in co-authored publications in Nature, Science, and Neuron. Her career goal is to become a surgeon-scientist, leveraging her research experience to address critical gaps in otolaryngology. During her PGY-2 year at the University of Miami, she studied the molecular mechanisms driving Schwann cell proliferation in NF2-associated vestibular schwannomas using human induced pluripotent stem cells.
