Jordan Kankam, BS, is a third-year medical student at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine with a strong interest in Otolaryngology. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Sciences, Magna Cum Laude, from Texas Tech University in 2024.
His research interests include health disparities in head and neck surgery, burn-related outcomes in underrepresented populations, and the intersection of social media and surgical practice. He has received recognition for his work on adverse outcomes in Black pediatric burn patients, earning a first-place award for oral presentation at the 2025 Annual Medical Education Conference.
Beyond research, Jordan is committed to serving underserved communities. He has participated in medical mission trips to Ghana, volunteered at free clinics in Lubbock, and contributed to head and neck cancer screening initiatives for homeless populations. He hopes to address head and neck disease in underserved communities through surgical innovation and global health engagement.
Jordan is a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and the Student National Medical Association. Outside of medicine, he enjoys traveling, weightlifting, and playing his saxophone.
