Sione Markarian, BA is a fourth-year medical student (Class of 2027) at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. She earned her bachelor's degree in Integrative Human Biology and Public Health from the University of California, Berkeley.
Sione's academic interests center on otolaryngology–head and neck surgery, global health, and health systems research. His work has focused on improving cancer care delivery, with a particular emphasis on exploring health system capacity, disparities in cancer care, and strategies to improve access to high-quality surgical and oncologic services.
Beyond research, Sione is actively involved in medical education, mentorship, and community outreach. She is committed to advancing equitable surgical care both locally and globally and hopes to pursue a career as an academic otolaryngologist integrating clinical care, research, and global health initiatives.
