Camila Colón Vega is a fourth-year medical student at the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology, with a minor in Human Rights, from the University of Puerto Rico.
Camila's research experience centers on pediatric critical care. As a Research Intern in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit with projects that are being developed describing the demographis of Puertorrican children in PICU. She also participated in the Michigan University Summer Research Program (Summer 2023), presenting her work on the MyBestGI Project as part of the program's 5-Minute Thesis (5MT) competition.
Beyond the laboratory and clinic, Camila is committed to community health and public engagement. Her volunteer work reflects this same commitment: she has provided medical assistance to children and adults throught the various volunteer opportunities offered through interest group activities.
