Carter Smith, MD, is an Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery resident at the University of Virginia. Dr. Smith earned his Doctor of Medicine from the Medical University of South Carolina, where he graduated as the Henry Tracy Ivy Award recipient and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Prior to medical school, he practiced as a physical therapist, an experience that continues to shape his patient-centered approach to care. His academic interests include comprehsneive otolaryngology, facial plastics and laryngology. Outside of medicine, Dr. Smith enjoys distance running, traveling with his family, and spending time with his wife and young son, Howard ("Howie").
