Louie E. Mekani, BS, is a fourth year medical student at Wayne State University School of Medicine. A metro Detroit native, he graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in Biopsychology, Cognition, and Neuroscience. He has a strong interest in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery and will be applying to residency in the 2026-2027 cycle.
During his training, he has been involved in many different clubs including Lions Hearing Clinic, a student run free clinic designed to provide free audiology screenings for the underserved communities across Detroit. He has also been involved in many research projects throughout medical school and will be presenting a systematic review on the use of pyridostigmine as treatment for botulinium toxin toxicity at this years conference.
Outside of medicine, Louie enjoys spending time with family, going on bike rides, and cheering on the Detroit Lions.
