Assistant Professor
Southern Illinois University School of Medicine
Dr. Cindy Moore grew up in a large family in a small rural town in southern Illinois. From a young age, she was drawn to medicine and caring for others—a passion that continues to guide her today.
That passion led Dr. Moore to specialize in ENT. Her commitment to improving patients’ lives—whether through surgery or personalized care plans—is what fuels her work every day.
Dr. Moore completed a fellowship in Laryngology and care of the professional voice, a subspecialty focused on the throat, voice, and airway. Some of the most rewarding moments in her practice come from helping patients with airway disorders. Giving someone the ability to breathe freely again is one of the most meaningful parts of what she does.
Voice care is another passion that drives her work. Our voices connect us to the people around us. For many, voice is central to their careers and identity. Helping patients protect and restore that part of themselves is incredibly fulfilling for Dr. Moore. Her goal is to help people across central and southern Illinois stay vocal, confident, and heard—whether they’re teachers, singers, public speakers, or simply trying to stay connected with loved ones.
Lastly, Dr. Moore offers surgical treatment for obstructive sleep apnea. Quality of sleep impacts quality of life. For patients unable to tolerate CPAP, then sleep surgery can be life changing.
Dr. Moore earned her medical degree from SIU School of Medicine, completed her residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, and went on to complete a Laryngology fellowship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She was proud to return to SIU Medicine and give back to the region that shaped her. Today, she lives in central Illinois with her family and is proud to serve the community she calls home.
