Medical Student
Howard University College of Medicine
Jonathan (Johnny) Vuillier is a third-year medical student at Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, DC, with a primary interest in otolaryngology–head and neck surgery. He earned his Bachelor of Arts from Johns Hopkins University, where he developed an early foundation in clinical inquiry and health systems engagement. Raised in a biracial French-Ethiopian household and having grown up in a predominantly Hispanic community, he is fluent in French and conversational in Spanish, experiences that have shaped his approach to communication, cultural humility, and patient-centered care.
Jonathan clinical and research interests are centered in otolaryngology, with a focus on outcomes-based and population-level studies. He has contributed to multiple projects using large national datasets, including TriNetX analyses examining infectious disease risk modification, surgical outcomes, and neurologic and oncologic associations within ENT-adjacent conditions. His work has been presented at national meetings and continues to evolve around improving evidence-based decision-making in head and neck surgery and related fields.
Beyond research, Jonathan is committed to mentorship, education, and serving patients with limited English proficiency. He has mentored high school students in Baltimore and Florida, served in academic support and leadership roles throughout training, and worked clinically in environments that emphasize care for diverse and underserved populations, including scribing at Johns Hopkins. He approaches otolaryngology with a strong interest in the intersection of surgical precision and communication, particularly how language barriers impact access and outcomes in head and neck disease.
