Jered Wilson is a second-year medical student at McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth Houston). Originally from Dallas, Texas, he graduated with Honors in Biology and Chemistry from Xavier University of Louisiana.
Between his freshman and sophomore years of college, Jered completed a 13-month, fully immersive neurosurgical research program at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center under the mentorship of Dr. Keith Black. During this time, he conducted Alzheimer's disease research, investigating the relationship between retinal pathology and neurodegeneration as potential biomarkers of disease progression.
Jered is currently involved in clinical research focused on surgical outcomes and reconstructive procedures while participating in a summer research program. His academic interests include otolaryngology, reconstructive surgery, and clinical outcomes research. He hopes to pursue a career in academic otolaryngology, where he can combine patient care, research, and education while improving access to high-quality surgical care for underserved communities.
