Dr. Alexander Chern is an otologist/neurotologist and Assistant Professor of Otorhinolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He recently completed a fellowship in otology, neurotology, and skull base surgery at Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Chern completed his residency in otolaryngology–head and neck surgery at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital (Columbia/Weill Cornell), earned his medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, and received his undergraduate degree from Yale University.
His research focuses on the intersection of musicality, hearing, and cognition. He aims to improve music perception and enjoyment for individuals with hearing loss and to explore how musicality may contribute to hearing health and cognitive resilience.
