Robson Capasso is a Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery at Stanford University School of Medicine, where he has served as Chief of the Division of Sleep Surgery since. He is dual board-certified in Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery and Sleep Medicine. He also serves as Associate Director of Global Programs at the Stanford Mussallem Center for Biodesign, advancing the translation of health innovation internationally.
Dr. Capasso is among the world’s leading authorities on surgical and multidisciplinary management of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). His research program integrates real-world evidence, wearable technology, and artificial intelligence in sleep science and medicine and has produced over 150 peer-reviewed publications in leading journals including JAMA Otolaryngology, Laryngoscope, Science, Nature Immunology, and Nature Medicine.
Dr. Capasso has trained and mentored over 150 medical students, residents, visiting scholars and fellows, who now hold faculty and leadership positions across North America, Asia, Europe, South America, Australia and the Middle East. He has delivered keynote lectures at major international forums.
He has mentored dozens of Stanford Biodesign students who developed healthcare companies in the Bay Area, Japan, Australia, Brazil and Singapore, and aim to utilize this acquired experience to foster health innovation training of multidisciplinary teams and engineers with broad impact globally. He is a member of the Stanford Medical Leadership Academy, an initiative to foster the development of innovative leadership across and outside departments at the School of Medicine and in the role of Associate Dean of Virtual Medicine he assisted the Dean’s office for the strategic development of translational research and education related to virtual and digital medicine. He is a consultant, advisor and investor in a number of digital health and medical device companies.
