Riley Larkin, M.D., is a PGY-2 Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery Resident and R25 Research Resident at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. A native of Jupiter, Florida, Dr. Larkin earned his Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and Cell Science from the University of Florida before completing his medical degree at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.
Prior to residency, Dr. Larkin completed the NIH's Medical Research Scholars Program under the mentorship of Nyall London, M.D., Ph.D., where he investigated the tumor immune microenvironment of olfactory neuroblastoma and sinonasal malignancies. He has continued to pursue an active research career at Vanderbilt under the mentorship of Alexander Gelbard, M.D., with interests spanning laryngeal disease, subglottic stenosis, and head and neck oncology. Dr. Larkin is the recipient of an AAO-HNSF CORE Resident Research Grant investigating the impact of endotracheal tube size on the severity of acute laryngeal injury.
His scholarly work includes more than 10 peer-reviewed publications across journals including The Laryngoscope, Journal of Translational Medicine, Head & Neck, and International Forum of Allergy & Rhinology, and he has presented his research at national meetings including the American Laryngological Association Annual Meeting.
