Alejandra Lara is a medical student at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in Newark, New Jersey. Her research interests focus on otolaryngology, particularly the role of the upper airway microbiome in laryngeal disease and the use of large clinical databases to investigate outcomes in head and neck disorders. She is currently involved in clinical microbiome research within the Department of Otolaryngology and has contributed to projects examining laryngeal pathology, post-laryngectomy sinonasal changes, autoimmune disease–associated hearing loss, and national trends in epistaxis care. Beyond research, she serves as Co-President of the Community Audiometry Screening Clinic and is active in community outreach to improve access to hearing health services for underserved populations.
