Medical Student
UTMB John Sealy School of Medicine
Daniel Lam is a medical student at the University of Texas Medical Branch with a strong interest in otolaryngology, medical innovation, 3D Printing, and 3D Modeling. His work focuses on the intersection of clinical medicine, biomedical design, and open-access technology, with projects involving 3D-printed ENT surgical training models, medical prototyping, and efforts to improve the accessibility and reproducibility of simulation tools.
At UTMB, Daniel has been involved with the Medical Prototyping Lab and the Department of Innovation, where he has helped develop and evaluate practical tools that connect engineering principles with real clinical needs. He is particularly passionate about using 3D printing to create low-cost, adaptable, and shareable devices that can support surgical training, expand access to medical education, and encourage collaboration across institutions.
Daniel hopes to contribute to a future where clinicians are not only users of medical technology, but active creators and collaborators in designing solutions for the patients they serve.
