This panel will explore comprehensive otolaryngology as a dynamic and fulfilling career choice within academia. Panelists practicing academic general otolaryngology will discuss the breadth of clinical practice, role of general otolaryngologist in meeting patient access needs, and importance of generalists to resident education and departmental missions. The session will address career development topics including promotion pathways, leadership roles, and strategies for maintaining professional satisfaction and work–life integration. Through candid discussion and interactive Q&A, this session aims to provide residents with practical insights to evaluate whether a career in academic comprehensive otolaryngology aligns with their clinical interests, values, and long-term professional goals.
