The speaker will review the history and development of outcomes research and evidence-based medicine (EBM), and how these tools are used to answer important questions and guide contemporary practice. The speaker will give examples of how outcomes assessment and EBM have changed practice, and guide attendees on how to find and use these tools in their practice and their research (if applicable).

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the principles of outcomes research and quality of life assessment.
  • Recognize examples of validated patient-based outcomes instruments available in Otolaryngology.
  • Describe the five steps of practicing evidence-based medicine.
