Allergic Fungal Rhinosinustis (AFRS) is a severe subtype of Chronic Rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps characterized by thick eosinophilic mucin containing fungal hyphae. This panel will guide practitioners through the diagnostic and management challenges of AFRS, focusing on appropriate workup and optimal clinical care. Building on last year’s session, we will review updates in AFRS pathophysiology, high-risk populations, and geographic patterns, as well as limitations of classic diagnostic criteria. Using interactive case-based discussion, we will emphasize clinical decision-making for medical, surgical, and adjunctive therapies—including biologics—while addressing complications, health disparities, and emerging data.

Learning Objectives:

  • Discuss updates in the pathophysiology, epidemiology, diagnosis of Allergic Fungal Rhinosinusitis (AFRS) and review the role of medical and biologic medication in the treatment of AFRS
  • Review cases to highlight standard and cutting-edge medical and allergy treatment options and discuss the timing of in-office procedures and surgical intervention for AFRS
  • Discuss new clinical and translational research and how it impacts clinical care for AFRS
