This will be a case-based format, using cases first to illustrate specific concepts, then to stimulate discussion among the panelists and audience.

Learning Objectives:

  • Prepare for clinical situations in which successful completion of a tracheotomy operation requires additional consideration beyond standard high-quality care and techniques.
  • Implement strategies to safely perform tracheotomy in patients with anatomic challenges, such as morbid obesity and neck mobility limitation.
  • Employ a process for decannulating patients safely when it’s not straightforward.
