This saw bones lab will simulate a variety of mandibular fractures that can be encountered in everyday practice. Plating systems will be available to practice hands on reduction and internal fixation. The course will start with MMF using IMF screws/Wave plate technology/Interdental wiring, then proceed with Champy plates for angle fractures, condylar reduction and plating, and finally symphyseal fractures with plates and lag screws. The use of 3d modeling and patient specific plates has markedly improved the ability to quickly and efficiently deal with the most complex fractures. 2 attendees per workstation will have access to a skulls, mandibles, and technical instrumentation. This simulation course can be utilized to develop a new skill set or refresh old skills. There will be one instructor per station.

Learning Objectives:

Demonstrate understanding of how to obtain maxillomandibular fixation in the trauma setting.
Demonstrate understanding of current paradigms in the management of mandibular fractures.
Attendees will be able to utilize contemporary plating technology to reduce and reconstruct traumatic bony disruptions of the mandible using plates and lag screws..
