Most clinicians learn how to perform canalith repositioning—but far fewer learn why it fails, why symptoms persist, or what to do next when standard maneuvers don’t work. As BPPV care matures, the real challenge has shifted from routine posterior canal disease to complex, atypical cases. This course walks participants through the decision-making process behind advanced repositioning strategies. Attendees will learn how to recognize horizontal and superior canal variants, distinguish canalithiasis from cupulolithiasis. This course traces its roots to the original BPPV instruction courses taught with Dr. John Epley. The highlight of this course has always been the hands on demonstrations of each of the maneuvers and the group knowledge test at the end that helps you think through each problem case.
Learning Objectives:
Recognize BPPV and its various advanced manifestations. Understand the relevant anatomy and physiology of of canalithiasis and cupulolithiasis
Effectively perform the standard canalith repositioning procedure as well as advanced repositioning maneuvers. Effectively avoid pitfalls
