My name is Gabriel Bonassi, and I am currently a third-year medical student at The University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences. I completed my undergraduate studies at Florida State University, where I majored in biochemistry and led the 2022 FSU iGEM team to a Silver Medal in the world’s largest synthetic biology competition. I later worked with Dr. Gregory Macleod at FAU’s Honors College, developing visual deep learning models to segment neurons and mitochondria from serial block-face scanning electron microscopy images. Outside of medicine, I enjoy reading, movies, fishing, video games, and pickleball.
