Quentin Durfee is a 4th year medical student at the Penn State College of Medicine with research interests in otolaryngology–head and neck surgery, clinical outcomes, healthcare disparities, and patient education. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry with minors in Biology and Music Performance before serving eight years as a combat medic in the Oregon Army National Guard, experiences that continue to inform his clinical and academic interests. His research has transitioned from basic science to clinical outcomes and medical education, with projects examining postoperative outcomes, hearing loss, patient education, and the quality of online health information. Quentin has presented his work at regional and national scientific meetings through both poster and oral presentations and is actively involved in retrospective cohort studies utilizing large clinical databases. He is passionate about advancing evidence-based surgical care, improving patient education, and expanding access to high-quality specialty care for rural and underserved populations through clinically meaningful research.
