Claire Lawlor, M.D., is a pediatric otolaryngologist at Children's National Hospital. She is board-certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery in complex pediatric otolaryngology and general otolaryngology. She is a member of the Aerodigestive Clinic team and the Fetal Airway team and is co-founder and co-director of the Advanced Sleep Apnea Program and the anterior skull base surgery program. She is an assistant professor of Pediatrics and Surgery at George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. She completed her Pediatric Otolaryngology Fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School. Dr. Lawlor is site director for the otolaryngology residency rotations and the associate program director of the Pediatric Otolaryngology Fellowship at Children's National Hospital.
Dr. Lawlor is the former chair of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (AAO-HNS) section for residents and fellows. Dr. Lawlor won the 2018 Charles Furgeson Award for best clinical manuscript at the American Society of Pediatric Otolaryngology annual meeting. She won the Holt Leadership Award at the 2019 AAO-HNS Annual meeting. She is a member of the AAO-HNS Sleep Disorders Committee, the Women in Otolaryngology Leadership Development and Mentorship Committee, and the Pediatric Otolaryngology Education Committee. She has authored more than 50 peer-reviewed manuscripts. She is an editor for JAMA Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. She is also a member of the American Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Complex Pediatric Otolaryngology Task Force.
Dr. Lawlor has a special interest in caring for children with airway lesions/stenosis, difficulty swallowing, difficulty breathing, obstructive sleep, sinus disease, anterior skull base tumors, prenatal pediatrics and breastfeeding medicine. She also sees patients with a wide range of ear, nose and throat concerns, such as head and neck masses, hearing loss, recurrent ear infections, ear drum perforations, surgery of the tonsils and adenoids, and tongue ties.
