Dr. Michael Gluth is Director of the Comprehensive Ear & Hearing Center at the University of Chicago, where he holds the rank of Professor. He has particular interests in chronic suppurative otitis media and cholesteatoma, adult cochlear implantation, Meniere’s disease, lateral skull base surgery and otopathology. Dr. Gluth has received awards for excellence as a teacher and a researcher, including research grant funding from both public and private sources. He has authored numerous articles and textbook chapters and he has edited two textbooks, including a comprehensive major textbook on chronic otitis media entitled The Chronic Ear. He is currently the Executive Director of the Prosper Meniere Society. He completed residency training in otolaryngology-head & neck surgery at the Mayo Clinic. He also completed fellowship training in otology & skull base surgery at Ear Science Institute Australia. He is the incoming Gordon McClaren Chair in Ear Science Surgery & Research at the University of Western Australia in November 2025.
