Dr. Alan Cheng is a surgeon-scientist in the in the department of otolaryngology-head and neck surgery at Stanford University. As a pediatric otolaryngologist, he cares for children at the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital. His research program has focused on defining the mechanisms of hair cell development and regeneration a combination of genetic, molecular biological, pharmacological, and optical techniques. His long-term goal is to ameliorate hearing loss and deafness via a cell-based regenerative approach.
