Yasmeen Fleifil, MS, BA, is a second-year medical student at the Ohio State University College of Medicine. She is also a student researcher in the Department of Regenerative Medicine at Nationwide Children's Hospital. In this role, she has studied the effects of airway basal cell engraftment and works to advance tracheal regeneration outcomes.
Yasmeen has received her BA in Biology and Biochemistry and MS in Biochemistry from Miami University. During her master's degree, she developed interests in research focusing on improving clinical outcomes and gained experience in translational research. Prior to entering medical school, she served as a Research Assisstant at Cincinnati Children's Hospital and Medical Center, where she contributed to research in pediatric liver cancers.
Professionally, Yasmeen's interests include clinical research and cost analyses in otolaryngology and pulmonology. She is currently participating in the Medical Student Research Summer Scholarship (MDSR) at Ohio State in the Chiang Lab, and has presented work performed at the Ohio State Eye and Ear Institute on dysphagia-related patient outcomes at the 2026 Dysphagia Research Society Annual Conference.
In addition to professional responsibilities, Yasmeen is involved in the Ohio State Noor Community Clinic, Leading in Global Health Together student interest group, and the National Arab American Medical Association. She enjoys collaborating with colleagues, trainees, and community partners to improve patient care and education. Through her research based at the Eye and Ear Institute, Yasmeen remains committed to contributing to research on improving patient care and outcomes. Outside of daily responsibilities, Yasmeen values opportunities to engage in interdisciplinary collaboration and lifelong learning. Looking ahead, Yasmeen plans to pursue medicine while continuing to support research initiatives in patient outcome improvement. In personal time, she enjoys skiing, tennis, and spending time with family while pursuing creative outlets.
