Dr. Joshua Smith, M.D. is an Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh and VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System. He completed his surgical residency training at the University of Michigan in 2024 and a combined NIH T32 research and surgical fellowship in Advanced Head & Neck Oncologic & Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh in 2025. His research is focused on determining mechanisms of viral- and tobacco-mediated tumor-immune evasion and response to immune checkpoint blockade in HPV-associated oropharynx cancers.
