Medical Student
Albert Einstein College of Medicine
Matan Berkovsky is a medical student at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Class of 2028. His research at Montefiore focuses on clinical outcomes in head and neck surgery, including a project on hypoglossal nerve stimulation for obstructive sleep apnea, which he is presenting at the AAO-HNSF Annual Meeting 2026. The project examines the discordance between patient-reported sleep satisfaction and objective measures of apnea resolution, a gap with direct implications for how surgeons counsel patients and define treatment success.
Matan also co-founded and co-leads the Einstein Head & Neck Society, a student organization built to expand early exposure to otolaryngology and the broader head and neck specialties through case-based teaching that moves from clinical fundamentals to surgical decision-making. His approach favors first-principles reasoning and analogy over rote memorization, an emphasis he also brings to PreMedley, where he has taught large-group MCAT biology and organic chemistry weekly since 2023.
Broadly, his interests sit at the intersection of otolaryngology and medical education.
