Dr. Sheng "Shane" Zhou is an Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery in the Division of Pediatric Otolaryngology at the University of Washington and Seattle Children's Hospital. He earned his medical degree from the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California, completed his otolaryngology–head and neck surgery residency at USC Keck Medical Center/LA General Medical Center, and completed a fellowship in pediatric otolaryngology at Seattle Children's Hospital. He also holds a Certificate in Patient Safety and Quality from the University of Washington/Seattle Children's Hospital.
Dr. Zhou's clinical practice centers on pediatric craniofacial disorders, including care for children with 22q11.2 deletion syndrome, microtia reconstruction, and velopharyngeal insufficiency (VPI). He is an active member of the orthodontic airway plate program for infants with Robin sequence and has lectured nationally and internationally on microtia reconstruction, including invited talks in the Philippines and at national craniofacial and otolaryngology meetings. His work also encompasses pediatric obstructive sleep apnea and pediatric airway management.
He is deeply engaged in quality improvement, serving as a CSW (clinical standard work) lead for tonsillectomy and ear tubes, a member of the Consortium for Improvement in Tonsillectomy and Adenoidectomy (CITA), and a participant in Seattle Children's Perioperative Microsystems programs, with a particular focus on adenotonsillectomy quality and outcomes.
