Resident Physician
University of California, San Francisco
Isaac Lalakea Alter is a first-year otolaryngology resident at the University of California - San Francisco. Before medical school, Isaac spent several years working as a pianist and conductor for Broadway musicals including Frozen, Dear Evan Hansen, and Moulin Rouge, among others. These formative years have fueled several of his research interests in otolaryngology, namely evaluating music enjoyment in individuals with hearing loss and understanding the vocal habits of professional and amateur performers. In addition, Isaac is a former board member of Q Clinic, a student-run free clinic serving the LGBTQ+ population of New York City, and is involved in multiple research efforts related to voice and communication modification training for transgender individuals.
