Yehya Maitah is a fourth year medical student at Albany Medical College and a presenter at the 2026 American Academy of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery Foundation Annual Meeting. He is pursuing a career in Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, with academic interests in head and neck oncology, rhinology, surgical outcomes, health equity, and emerging technologies in patient education.
His research spans multiple areas of otolaryngology, including AI in patient education and triage, trends in endoscopic sinonasal surgery, GLP-1 receptor agonist use in rhinology, fluorescence imaging for parathyroid preservation, and head and neck cancer prevention in vulnerable populations. His work has been accepted for oral and poster presentation at the AAO-HNSF Annual Meeting, and he has contributed to several peer-reviewed publications and national presentations.
Yehya’s interest in otolaryngology is rooted in a personal connection to head and neck cancer and a broader commitment to caring for patients and families during vulnerable moments. As a first-generation medical student, he is also passionate about mentorship, advocacy, and improving representation in medicine. He currently serves in multiple leadership roles, including Founder of the National Arab American Medical Association Albany Chapter, and Albany Medical College Class of 2027 Representative. Through his clinical, research, and leadership work, he hopes to build a career that combines technical excellence, compassion, curiosity, and service to underserved communities.
