Getting Nosey: Comprehensive Management and Decision-making in the Treatment of Nasal Obstruction

This panel brings together rhinologists and facial plastic surgeons to address the evaluation of nasal obstruction and the selection of treatment strategies across a range of clinical scenarios. Patient photographs and nasal endoscopy will illustrate key elements of the nasal examination and findings that guide management. Discussion will span options from in office minimally invasive procedures to open nasal valve surgery and septorhinoplasty, with review of functional rhinoplasty maneuvers targeting specific sites of obstruction. Cases involving prior failed nasal surgery will explore surgical decision making when choosing between additional minimally invasive interventions and revision surgical approaches.

Learning Objectives:

  • Upon completion, participants will be able to understand the comprehensive nasal examination, including physical examination and nasal endoscopy findings, and how these findings guide treatment decisions for nasal obstruction.
  • Upon completion, participants will be able to identify appropriate surgical procedures and maneuvers for nasal obstruction based on patient specific physical exam and endoscopy findings.
  • Upon completion, participants will be able to identify appropriate indications for minimally invasive nasal valve procedures through evaluation of patient examinations with nasal endoscopy findings and recognize common pitfalls and appropriate indications for in office treatment.
