Often in laryngology, the case isn’t the problem, the view is. This practical, expert-led session focuses on optimizing exposure in both the office and the OR to improve diagnostic accuracy and procedural success. Attendees will learn reproducible techniques for patient coaching, positioning, task maneuvers, and equipment setup to obtain diagnostically sufficient views during flexible laryngoscopy/stroboscopy. The session will also provide a stepwise OR exposure strategy, including patient positioning, laryngoscope selection, and troubleshooting by anatomic target (supraglottis, glottis, subglottis/trachea, proximal esophagus). Participants leave with a ready-to-use checklist and algorithm.

Learning Objectives:

Demonstrate office-based techniques to obtain diagnostically sufficient views of the larynx/pharynx using positioning pearls and high-yield phonatory/respiratory tasks.
Recognize when office visualization is sufficient for diagnosis versus when additional evaluation is indicated.
Compare OR exposure strategies to maximize visualization and deploy alternative approaches when exposure is limited.
