This session will provide a discussion of adjunctive medical management for subglottic stenosis, with a focus on idiopathic subglottic stenosis. Panelists will review emerging evidence, current practice patterns, and areas requiring further investigation surrounding medical therapies utilized alongside surgical intervention. Through case-based discussion and literature review, attendees will gain practical insight into indications, timing, and duration of adjunctive treatments, and identify priorities for further research.

Learning Objectives:

  • Upon completion, participants will be able to compare various options for topical medical therapies to treat subglottic stenosis including corticosteroids and anti-inflammatory medications.
  • Upon completion, participants will be able to recognize the contribution of the bacterial microbiome to the pathogenesis of subglottic stenosis and assess the role of antibiotic treatments for stenosis.
  • Upon completion, participants will be able to understand the possible contribution of laryngopharyngeal reflux in the development or exacerbation of subglottic stenosis
