Participants will gain comprehensive knowledge of radiation-induced temporal bone complications and their management. The session will cover pathophysiology of radiation effects on the ear and temporal bone, clinical presentation and diagnostic evaluation of radiation-related otologic disease, and evidence-based surgical and medical management approaches. Specific topics include decision-making for tympanomastoidectomy and mastoid obliteration in irradiated bone, patient selection and outcomes for osseointegrated hearing devices and auricular prostheses, cochlear implantation considerations in previously irradiated patients, medical and surgical management of osteoradionecrosis, and vascular complications. Clinical cases and updated literature will illustrate key concepts.
