Case presentations, panel discussions, and audience participation will allow for an interactive discussion of patients and procedures that can, in the right circumstances, avoid the risks and inconvenience of general anesthesia in the operating room. Topics include sialendoscopy, salivary gland surgery, parathyroidectomy, and practical considerations in scope-based laryngeal and pharyngeal biopsies.

Learning Objectives:

Discuss office-based sialendoscopy and salivary surgery. Specifically, identify patients and diseases appropriate or inappropriate for in-office salivary work. Equipment considerations, timing advice, and clinical staff support will be discussed in detail.
Understand indications and contraindications for in-office parathyroidectomy. In particular, experts will describe techniques in bedside ultrasound, local anesthetic techniques, parathyroid hormone assessment, and avoiding complications.
Discuss scope-based biopsies of pharyngeal and laryngeal lesions. Panelists will present practical considerations including equipment needs and clinical workflow to allow for successful diagnostic procedures.
