This saw bones lab will simulate a variety of common and unusual maxillofacial fractures that can be encountered in everyday practice. Plating systems will be available to practice hands on reduction and internal fixation of these simulated fractures. The course will start with MMF by IMF screws/the wave system/interdental wiring. Zygomatic, orbital and frontal sinus fractures will be plated. Orbital floor reconstruction with plating systems will be performed. A diverse multi-institutional faculty will permit a unique educational experience given the extensive and variety of experiences. Two attendees per workstation will have access to a broad range of skulls, mandibles, and technical instrumentation. This simulation course can be utilized to develop a new skill set or refresh old skills.

Learning Objectives:

Demonstrate understanding of the various midface fracture patterns that are Commonly encountered trauma in the head and neck
Demonstrate understanding of current paradigms in the management of bony trauma fixation and be able to obtain stable intra operative fixation
Attendees will be able to utilize contemporary plating technology to reduce and reconstruct traumatic bony disruptions of the midface (Zygomatic/orbital rim/orbital floor/frontal.
