This course is a concentrated review of current understanding of vocal fold paralysis and how that influences diagnostic and treatment decisions. Video examples of clinical findings will be presented in addition to lecture format.
Learning Objectives:
Understand evidence supporting treatment practices for vocal fold paralysis, and which practices are based on consensus rather than evidence
Understand current concepts of spontaneous recovery and reinnervation, both functional and dysfunctional (synkinesis), in vocal fold paralysis
Understand how to assess and treat patients with vocal fold paralysis according to the best available information.
